Yejing Ge, Assistant Professor, Deputy Chair, Department of Cancer Biology, MD Anderson Cancer Center. Undergrad Tsinghua University (2002-2006), PhD University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2012), Postdoc the Rockefeller University (2018). Ge lab uses skin as a model, aims to understand the genetic and genomic basis for stem cell plasticity, and how its deregulation leads to malignant and degenerative skin diseases. The lab is supported by National Institute of Health, Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, Texas Rising STAR, Sabin Family, Cancer Center Support Grant awards, among others. Her work contributions are: 1) discovery of a master transcriptional regulator of sphingolipid metabolism in skin; 2) cancer as a non-healing wound: stem cell lineage infidelity drives wound repair and cancer; 3) in vivo functional screen identifies novel drivers of skin squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs); 4) stem cell behavior is dictated by skin tissue microenvironment in aging and wound repair; 5) mTOR regulatory network in orchestrating skeletal myogenesis in vivo.
